The ARK is a vision I had for creating a building for classes to learn preparedness & self-sufficiency. My husband has a simpler vision to build one for all his tools.
The result is a beautiful building with workstations for eight, a lot of tools, a full kitchen and bathroom, with leisure seating in the loft. We hope to create a fun, Godly and creative environment for learning all kinds of skills and crafts. I have been into preparedness for decades, ran a preparedness Facebook group with over 500 members for 5 years before moving, and I taught almost 100 classes in North Idaho regarding preparedness and self-reliance. I wanted to bring it here to the Idaho Falls area when we moved. I am a veteran, have been a volunteer for Search and Rescue and the American Red Cross, but now as I’m aging, started teaching.
The name The ARK, came by accident! I hadn’t picked a name for my business yet and nothing quite fit it correctly.
One week, two of my best friends (who live in different states and don’t even know each other) told me they were traveling to Noah’s Ark Replica in Kentucky this year (what are the odds?). I jokingly started calling the clubhouse the ARK because it reminded me of how our clubhouse was turning out. Without trying while finishing it, the acid stain on the floor and the colors just started taking a nautical life of it own. Then just a couple days later, in a Christian Art Class, I was weaving a long narrow basket, and one of the gals said “That looks like you are building an ARK! Suddenly, it hit me like a hammer! The ARK was not just the name of the building, but the name of my business! It was in that instant that the name was finalized! It took three of my friends for God to get the message through my thick brain that the name of my business should be the ARK! The clubhouse is still being finished, but its a wonderful space!
What a wonderful God we have!
